Shekinah students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of dramatic performances at Shekinah. Drama provides a way for students to increase their self-awareness and self-confidence and supports the development of public speaking skills in an engaging context that inspires students to learn. Students in Kindergarten through 6th grade perform in skits, musicals, and plays at events such as the annual Christmas program and Spring Fine Arts Showcase.
Our Fine Arts department produces a major theatrical production in the Spring of even years, which is open to junior high and high school students. In Spring 2016, students participated in the musical Seussical directed by our Fine Arts Director, Mrs. Pratt. During years where there is not a theatrical production our students participate in exciting events showcasing their many talents. In Spring 2017, the Fine Arts department presented their inaugural Fine Arts Gala which provided a sampling of entertainment which included a student-produced promotional video, dramatic recitation, instrumental and vocal pieces throughout the evening.
Occasionally, students in elementary grades are also given an opportunity to participate in major theatrical performances as well.
Drama is also offered as a class for credit in high school.
