School

Shekinah Christian School is located in a rural setting outside of Plain City, OH. The school is a member of ACSI and OHSAA. The school offers academic programs for grades K-12 in one building.  The school opened in 1978 and graduated its first senior class in 1980 with a total of 360 graduates to date.

Graduation Requirements

To graduate from Shekinah Christian School, a student is required to have accumulated 25 credits, 20 as required by the state of Ohio, plus 5 additional credits during the four years of attendance.  The credits are to be accumulated as follows:

English:  4 Credits

Mathematics:  4 Credits and must include Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry

Social Studies:  4 Credits and must include World History and American History

Science:  3 Credits to include Biology

Physical Education:  0.5 Credit; two seasons of a sport can be used a waiver

Health:  0.5 Credit

Foreign Language:  2 Credits of Spanish

Bible:  2 Credits

Fine Arts:  1.5 Credits and must include .5 credit of Music Theory

Computer Literacy:  0.5 Credits

Electives:  3 Credits

Calendar

The school year is comprised of two semesters with 1121 total school hours.  The school day begins at 8:25 am and ends at 3:11 pm. 

Standardized Test Results

The average ACT composite from the past 10 years 2007-2016 is 25.6 

That average composite came from the following data:

2011 - 9 students Average - 24.9

2012 - 9 students Average- 28.2

For the past number of years the composite averages of high school students on the Stanford Achievement Tests have been above the eightieth percentile. Last year’s senior class also had a composite average of the 92nd percentile on the Stanford Achievement Test.

Higher Education Details

Sixty-nine percent of the graduates in the last five years have enrolled in post-secondary education. Shekinah students have enrolled at Columbus State Community College, Rosedale Bible College, The Ohio State University, Cedarville University, Mount Vernon Nazarene University, and Ohio Christian University, Bowling Green University, University of Massachusetts-Amherst, Asbury University, Southeastern University, and Malone University.

Extracurricular  Details

Shekinah Christian School is a member of the Ohio High School Athletic Association.  The school fields teams in golf, girls’ volleyball, girls’ basketball, boys’ basketball, baseball, and tennis. The school also offers Honors Ensemble, Choir, and Student Worship Team as well as a bi-annual dramatic performance.
