College Credit Plus

Ohio’s College Credit Plus program is an opportunity for college-ready students in grades 7-12 to earn high school and college credit at the same time by taking courses at a participating Ohio college or university. The purpose of this program is to enhance students’ career readiness and postsecondary success, while providing a wide variety of options to college-ready students, at no or limited costs to students and families. The State of Ohio has designated funds to pay for the tuition for non-public students to participate in College Credit Plus. Students' only expenses will be the cost of textbooks for courses taken at the Ohio college or university campus or online. All public colleges and certain private colleges in Ohio are participating.

Interested, college-ready students have the opportunity to pursue more challenging classes and explore college interests while still in middle school or high school. Students can earn anywhere from a few college credits to more than a year’s worth. College Credit Plus can reduce your child’s time in college and save a significant amount of money on higher education.

Shekinah hosted our annual CCP Information Session on October 12, 2020.  See information below from college reps. who attended the virtual session.

Cedarville University's College Credit Plus Program, College Now

Stephen Buettell was present to answer questions in our virtual fall informational meeting. Cedarville's College Now program offers dual-credit students the following:

  • ACCREDITED general education courses eligible for College Credit Plus funding
  • CHALLENGING coursework developed in their Center for Teaching and Learning
  • FREE virtual assistance with writing papers from Cedarville's Writing Center
  • FREE virtual resources and tutoring from The Cove, the academic resource center
  • PERSONALIZED academic advising from a team dedicated to dual-enrolled students
  • FLEXIBLE delivery options: online, on campus, or in a classroom at your school

In 2020-2021 Cedarville University offered a CCP psychology class at Shekinah.  If we have students interested in this option we might offer it again for 2021-2022.  See the guide below that explains the course. This class is an online class, but the students who are taking it will meet daily as a class with a facilitator who would be a Shekinah staff member.  You would earn elective high school credit at the same time you would earn college credit in a subject that is a Gen. Ed. requirement in most college programs.  If you are interested in taking this class, or just want more information please email lshetler@shekinahchristian.org or call 614-873-3143.

With NO APPLICATION FEE and TEST-OPTIONAL application review, applying for admission to Cedarville has never been easier.

Admission requirements include:

  • A 3.0 cumulative grade point average in college-preparatory coursework
  • Transcripts demonstrating at least two full years of grades
  • Standardized test scores (ACT, SAT, or CLT) requested when available
  • Evidence of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Christian leader recommendation confirming a consistent Christian lifestyle
