This means if you give a $1, then we raise $2 total. We could raise up to $10,000 with this opportunity and push our Traditions Campaign total closer to our goal! If you, your family, or your business would be willing to contribute to this next phase of the Traditions Campaign, you can either mail your check to the school office and put “Traditions Matching” in the memo line or go online to our website and click the Donate link in the upper right corner: www.Shekinahchristian.org

Monday, May 14, 2018

Our focus: “Living for Eternity” 2 Corinthians 4:18

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal

What is your primary goal for today? For this week? For the remainder of the school year? Is it just to finish? Or do you have something more worthwhile to accomplish?

Each day we have the opportunity to make an impact for eternity by the way that we conduct ourselves and speak. Consider ways you can speak and act to encourage others beyond just getting through today.

1. CONGRATULATIONS ON A JOB WELL-DONE TO OUR K-8TH GRADE AT THE SPRING FINE ARTS SHOWCASE. Your artwork was phenomenal!

I’d say it was the best elementary performance I’ve seen yet. I had multiple people approach me afterwards and brag about how well you did! Keep up the great work in the classroom as we finish the year!

2. It's that time of year to vote for Student of the Year!

Just a reminder... please vote for only 1 person.  It can be either a junior or a senior, NOT one from each grade.  If that happens we have to throw out the vote. Voting will take place in homeroom.

3. REMEMBER: Teachers, we need to check lights and A/C units in the area of the building we are responsible for when leaving for the day.   Students, only a teacher should adjust the A/C unit in a room.

4. Do you need a registration sheet for basketball camp?  It’s time to sign-up for the SCS Summer Basketball Camp. Both boys AND girls can participate in our basketball camp on June 4-8th.  Sign-up today and invite your friends from your church or neighborhood to sign up too! Everyone who registers gets a t-shirt and personalized Shekinah Christian basketball to take home with you. Don’t miss your chance this summer to learn more about basketball AND have lots of fun.

5. Do we have your permission slip for the Bible Memory field trip yet?

Kindergarten through 4th grade is headed to Fun in the Jungle on Monday, May 21st. We will have the place to ourselves with over 1000 arcade games, virtual reality, an amazing playground, and mini-bowling.

5-12th Grade – be sure to let us know your choice!

OPTION 1: Stay at Shekinah and play games on the Buckeye Video Game Truck. This adventure will also include outdoor laser tag. NOTE: There is a minimum number of participants required in order for this option to happen.

OPTION 2: Go to John Bryant State Park. This adventure will also include lunch and ice cream at Young’s Dairy.

OPTION 3: I do not wish to participate in either.

(parent should contact me for details)

6. If you are a participating junior or senior in the upcoming Junior-Senior Banquet, remember that you are allowed to miss classes on Friday if and only if you meet the following qualifications:  You must have all A’s & B’s in your current gradebook and not be at risk of failing any classes for the year.  You should have all make-up work completed PRIOR TO Friday for any absences or tardies. You are also encouraged to have memorized all of your Bible Memory.

7. We received another gift towards the IT made REAL matching campaign! Our goal is the end of the school year! That means we have just over 2 weeks to raise about $3,650.  We have received gifts totaling $1,350. IT made REAL will match that gift with another $1,350 which gives us $2,700 towards technology so far. This is a dollar-for-dollar fundraiser.

8. I’m happy to announce we have received a $350 gift toward our IT made REAL matching campaign. That means that IT made REAL will match that gift with another $350 which gives us $700 towards technology. This is a dollar-for-dollar fundraiser.

9. It’s Enrollment Time! If you have a friend at church, summer job, or neighbor that you would love to see join us at Shekinah – encourage them to contact us and set-up a tour!  Students can even come shadow for a couple of hours or an entire day.

1. Our focus: “Living for Eternity” 2 Corinthians 4:18

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal

Thinking ahead to Spring Break: Will you do things that will matter beyond the week? I’d challenge you to find one activity, one conversation, one opportunity that you know will make a difference for eternity.

2. It’s Enrollment Time! If you have a friend at church, summer job, or neighbor that you would love to see join us at Shekinah – encourage them to contact us and set-up a tour! Prospective students can even come shadow! This is the time of year where you may see Mrs. Grissom, Mrs. Purdy, or me come into your classroom with a guest. If that happens, just keep focusing on whatever your class is doing. We are likely giving a school tour!

3. REMEMBER THIS IS AN “A” WEEK

The junior class meets today at lunch with Mrs Grissom.

4. WE HAVE 1 ½ DAYS LEFT IN THE 3RD QUARTER!

Plan ahead because TOMORROW will be a ½ day. All classes will dismiss at 12:30 PM. Make-up work needs to be completed prior to Spring Break.   There will be discussion groups on Friday. We have missed so many discussion groups that I want to give you one more opportunity to connect before head into Spring Break. We will have 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 7th period classes on Friday morning following discussion groups. Discussion group leaders do your best to wrap-up on-time.

5. NO NEED TO WAIT FOR REPORT CARDS – CHECK QUICK SCHOOLS NOW AND YOU WILL KNOW HOW THE 3RD QUARTER WENT…

6. Softball & Baseball Players – Please be sure to turn off lights when your team is finished with practice. Be sure to pick-up any belongings in the restroom, on top of lockers, or laying around elsewhere in the school as well. Keep it clean Shekinah!  Thanks for your help in taking care of our facility and helping the school save money.

7. SPORTS UPDATE

Baseball and Softball season will start on March 24th. You can view the full softball and baseball schedules on our website: shekinahchristian.org

8. Daily Announcements are now posted on the website so that you can read much of what was shared during our morning announcement time over the PA System. Look for the circle that says “Announcements” mid-way down the home page. Click on it and you will be able to view announcements. Announcements are not read verbatim in the morning, but this sheet at least captures the topics covered.

9. Enrichment Week Registration & Job Shadowing

Please try to turn in your registration form today! If you have requested a class that will be taking a trip off-site, please remember to also bring the appropriate completed Field Trip Permission Form with you. For those who are considering job shadowing opportunities, please let us know this morning if you have questions. We are delighted that so many are considering opportunities to job shadow during Enrichment Week. Students are permitted to job shadow 1 or 2 days during the week (preferably on Tuesday or Thursday, although other arrangements can be made). We do need to know if you have an opportunity lined up or if you need our assistance in setting up an opportunity. We will need to verify attendance at the job shadow site. Students will also have a couple of reflection questions to answer regarding the job shadow opportunity upon their return.

------------------------This item will be announced on Friday over the PA-------------------------

10. We are pleased to announce that IT made REAL has offered Shekinah up to $5,000 as a matching gift. This is a dollar-for-dollar fundraiser.

5. BE SURE TO CHECK QUICK SCHOOLS REGULARLY THIS WEEK

Junior high and high school students (and their parents) can log-in anytime and check grades without waiting to talk to a teacher. It is important to direct questions about assignments, make-up work, etc. to your teacher today rather than waiting for the end of the quarter. Also, it is important to aim to have each assignment turned in on-time. Do not expect to be able to make-up a 3rd quarter test, make-up a missing assignment, etc. after Spring Break.

6. Softball & Baseball Players – Please be sure to turn off lights when your team is finished with practice. Also, remember to turn off the restroom light at the end of softball practice. The light to the restroom has been left on repeatedly.

WEDNESDAY, February 28, 2018

1. Our focus: “Living for Eternity” 2 Corinthians 4:18

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

My test matters because I’m working to learn more so that I can use that knowledge to make a difference for God’s Kingdom.

My attitude matters more because I’m working to encourage and help those around me become more Christ-like.

In eternity, will my test score make a difference? No.

Will the love I’ve demonstrated (or not demonstrated) to others matter?

2. REMEMBER THIS IS A “B” WEEK – Classes that meet Tues/Thurs/alternating Friday will have class this week.  TOMORROW, Mrs. Grissom will meet with Student Life at lunch.

3. SPORTS

Basketball

The Boy’s Varsity team played their first round tournament game last night against Grove City Christian. It was a hard-fought game, but unfortunately we lost, and the season is over.

4. Donate to support school children in Argentina! Our Spanish III class is headed to Argentina in less than 2 weeks. They will be taking donated school supplies with them to bless children there. You will find a table marked to receive your donations in the hallway.

5. Be sure to check Quick Schools – Zeros reports were printed on Monday. However, junior high and high school students (and their parents) can log-in anytime and check grades without waiting to talk to a teacher. It is important to direct questions to your teacher rather than waiting for the end of the quarter. Also, it is important to aim to have each assignment turned in on-time.

6. Next Friday is the end of the 3rd quarter! Plan ahead because that day will be a ½ day. Which means that counting today you have just 7 ½ days left in the 3rd quarter.

7. Enrichment Week is Coming the Week After Spring Break! It’s on the School Calendar. We have been doing significant planning behind the scenes. There will be a variety of opportunities that week to hear from people in various careers, participate in activities that you normally can’t due to traditional classroom learning, AND high school students will be given an opportunity to job shadow during that week as well. If there is a career that a high school student would like to explore, we would love to work with you to find a place where you can job shadow for a day to learn more about that particular job role and career field.  Please see Mr. Kauffman if you are interested.

TONIGHT’S GAMES

The boy’s varsity team competes in their first post-season tournament game tonight. The game tips off at 7:00 PM against Grove City Christian and will be played at Jonathan Alder High School. Tickets: $6

4. SPIRIT WEEK – CELEBRATING THE GIRLS AND BOYS POST-SEASON BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT GAMES: TODAY IS SHEKINAH SPIRIT WEAR DAY.

If the guys win tonight, we will have a Shekinah Spirit Wear Day on Friday!

BIBLE MEMORY – There is no March Bible Memory for most classes due to spring break, Enrichment Week, the Spanish trip, and other activities. We will have a Bible Memory due in April and May.  February Bible Memory was due Friday by the end of the school day. Again, a reminder to junior high and high school students to remember to hand your Bible Memory sheet directly to your homeroom teacher or place it in the location the teacher has designated upon successful recitation of the monthly Bible Memory passage. We have had a problem with students placing these sheets on teacher desks or other locations. This has led to a few getting lost. We would hate to make a student re-recite their Bible Memory due to a lost sheet. However, it is the student’s responsibility to hand it to the teacher.

These are not for entertainment purposes during a study hall. If you are not using the computers properly and/or are not signing them in/out properly – you will be assigned a lunch detention.
