Parent Teacher Organization’s (PTO) mission is to provide support to teachers and staff of Shekinah Christian School (SCS). PTO accomplishes their mission by organizing various activities throughout the year.
At the beginning of each school year, we ask teachers fill out a wish list. We use this to bless them throughout the school year. The PTO provides these lists to parents. It’s a helpful tool to know what their child’s teacher's specific needs are and helps get to know them better. We also use these wish lists to make end-of-year gift baskets for staff, filled with as much from the list as we can get. We ask parents to send in items to the school the last couple of weeks so that the PTO can get them ready before the last day of school.
PTO also blesses the school, staff, and families in the following ways:
- Grandparent’s Day: Hosts a biennial Grandparent’s Day, including lunch, in October. Each family is asked to prepare a food item for the meal. Additional volunteers are needed with set-up, decorating, food preparation, serving and cleaning afterwards. Would you, as a Shekinah parent, consider financially sponsoring the PTO so that we can continue our grandparents event? If you are unable to give of your time, maybe you are able to help us financially?
- Parent/Teacher Conference Meals: Organizes an evening meal for teachers and staff throughout the night for parent/teacher conferences (two nights per semester). Parents are encouraged to sign-up to bring a food item.
- Hanging of the Greens: Decorates the school and the stage for the Christmas program and the Christmas season.
- Christmas Program: Arranges refreshments. Requests all parents to bring two-dozen cookies to enjoy and fellowship over after the program.
- Teacher Appreciation: A teacher appreciation meal is prepared in the Spring.

Box Tops: Start scanning your receipts to earn money for SCS! In order to scan your receipts and earn money for SCS you will need to download the app in your mobile device's app store. It's a quick and simple process. Thanks for making this a regular part of your weekly shopping and reporting experience.
Cookbooks: SCS cookbooks have favorite family recipes and make great birthday, Christmas, and special occasion gifts. Cookbooks may be purchased in the SCS office for $13.
The PTO is always looking for willing parents to help with these special projects! We need more volunteers to make all of this possible. We also need some fresh ideas for fundraising. Please prayerfully consider your involvement with the Shekinah PTO.
